Our downtime management solutions help you minimize downtime and maximize productivity.     Nutshell Analysis  We’re looking for a hands-on Product Engineering leader to lead the evolution of our operational software into a scalable, customer-facing product. This is a high-impact role combining 50% engineering with 50% product, ideal for someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, knows how to get things done with limited structure, and is excited to help build something transformative from within. You’ll take ownership of existing codebase with the help of the existing developer and lead the next phase of development—from scaling adoption across internal teams and vendors to building the infrastructure that could support commercial rollout. You’ll work closely with our founder, existing dev partners, and eventually your own engineering team. The software is called VERT - it allows the stranded trucker visibility. for the broker, it allows for efficiency in operations. for the wrecker, it allows them a portal to submit and track tows (admin burden). It aims to address issues of trust and transparency in the towing industry by providing a clear view of the service process. It provides efficient and real-time monitoring - ex: no need to call to get a status alert.  Current state includes databases and functionalities to dispatch out roadside repair to their own - the dispatch to their vendors doesn’t communicate directly so they are still using phone and then inputting the notes into the system manually. Works internally somewhat - wants to automate processes, moving them away from phone calls and then monetize it to their vendor network - similar products are Tracker Systems and Towbooks - decided after review that its worth creating vs out of the box solution. The focus is more practicality vs ivory tower - doesn't need to be the prettiest but the function needs to make a difference with efficiency and transparency.  Roughly 400 tows a day currently and want to position it to scale and integrate with vendor's business systems. "We have the plumbing and foundation but need someone to manage it and handle it from soup to nuts." Someone to take the vision, iron out the current kinks, and run with it.      Must Haves
  • 5-10+ years of hands-on experience that includes scaling an existing internal app into a customer-facing product
  • Ability to perform requirements gathering, defining roadmap and being in the code as needed
  • Experience in a startup or high growth company (ideally being #1 or #2), and experience building up a small team that includes fullstack, QA, etc... when the time is right
  • Experience with or exposure to Python and Flutter
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud infrastructure and modern development practices
  • Experience with APIs and integrations (ERPs, Salesforce, QuickBooks, and similar small to medium sized business platforms), ability to scan or use OCR
  • Very comfortable with ambiguity and iterating quickly
   Strong Nice to Haves
  • Experience in product ownership, user adoption and roadmap development
  • Exposure to B2B logistics, operations or vendor management software
  • Experience operating in a private equity environment
Team Size 1 outsourced developer with some support and if all goes well, that outsourced developer would report to this role and stay on. Opportunity to put a small team in place. This role and plus 1, then plus 2, etc... prove to take out the costs and they are there - will consider offshore mixture - cost conscious but what is required to get things done  Company Communications video, email, in-person  Personality/Soft Skills scrappy, can wear different hats, can easily and naturally talk layman terms with the business (trucking industry) and translate into technical requirements, flexible, aggressive and realistic, willing to push the boundaries and also make the case as needed to business on their expectations, executive level translation, interface between tech and business, soft skills and tech skills with a product mindset, comfortable with blue collar workforce. Hungry, entrpreneurial, understands bigger picture and can get down in the details     On-Site, Remote or Hybrid can be remote with travel to HQ in Texas as needed - more needed in the beginning      HQ / Office Location 6125 Airport Fwy, Suite 202 Fort Worth Texas     Travel Required? How much? once a month - first 6 months, will be more often to build trust and ensure full alignment - twice a month to start - anywhere from a couple days to a week     Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical execution and strategy of our core platform and mobile applications.
  • Own the product roadmap, balancing internal needs with opportunities to expand adoption across our vendor network.
  • Collaborate with external development partners and eventually build out an internal dev team (full stack, QA, etc.).
  • Improve and scale critical workflows like job scheduling, invoice processing, and third-party integrations (e.g., Salesforce, QuickBooks).
  • Translate business needs into realistic, scalable, and efficient technical solutions—we value progress over perfection.
  • Ensure usability, stability, and security of the application as it evolves. You will be responsible for the infrastructure and database of the product and need to scale it for efficiency and snappiness.
  • Help shape the commercial product vision, including user experience, vendor adoption, and market differentiation.
First 90 days - ensure application is working better internally with bugs fixed and define new functions to help with vendor adoption (using it but not paying yet - use it for tracking) then move to buying platform.  more adoption with vendors is phase 1  By end of year 1 - sell to competitors is phase 2  Sizzle about the Job
  • Opportunity to grow with the product growth - its an add on to an established, well respected business. hitched to the company with full financial backing.
  • Be a key leader shaping the future of a growing business and potentially an entire industry.
  • Work directly with a visionary founder and executive team.
  • Build something from a strong foundation—with a real, working product already in place.
  • Get in on the ground floor of a product that has commercial potential beyond our organization.
  • Stability. This isn’t a startup that needs financing. It is a profitable viable business entity.
About DWS: Dispatch Wrecker Service is a fast-growing, forward-thinking B2B provider of nationwide roadside breakdown services for commercial trucking and fleet operations. As a leader in a traditionally outdated industry, we’re building innovative, in-house software to manage and scale our operations—and we’re now ready to take it to the next level. We’ve laid the foundation of a custom application to power scheduling, job tracking, vendor engagement, and invoicing. The long-term vision? Commercializing this platform and delivering a modern tech solution to our vendor network and the broader industry.     Additional Insight from DWS:  We want a Jonathan. Someone who has led both product and engineering. More product but can code. As far as the tech stack, I am not sure it would make sense to go back through and re-write what was done. Maybe on the database side, but python is becoming pretty popular as it is what a bunch of the AI stuff is being written on. Less concerned on the flutter. It is really important to get to phase 1 commercialization (i.e. internal usage) ASAP. Phase 2 commercialization (i.e. other brokers using the software) is the home run.
